Brighten up the outside of your house with fresh spring flowers by planting up a window box or two. Although dedicated gardeners will have planned and planted their spring displays in the Autumn, now is just as good a time. Garden centers and DIY stores will be well stocked with all you need, including boxes and fittings, potting compost and foliage plants, plus flowers and bulbs in fantastic springs colour.

All through winter we long for spring, so give yourself a colourful treat by planting a seasonal window box. Care Tips of Window Boxes

• Regular care will keep your plants healthy.Check the soil for dampness. Even after rain, a box can still be dry if it is sheltered by the building.

• When plants show signs of growing, give them  a liquid feed every two weeks.

Remove flower as soon as they fade.

• Look carefully for signs of greenfly (they make leaves sticky and leave small whiltish skins behind). Essay to control by spraying, they won`t harms plants unless they are allowed to reach plague proportions.

• At the end if May, reaarrange your window box for summer. Permanently evergreens such as Euonymus and ivy can be left in place. Throw away pansies, bellis and forget-me-nots. Plant the polyanthus and any bulbs in a shady spot in the garden for next year.
